Jap is an English abbreviation of the word "Japanese." Do I ever feel out of touch! Whenever I see "JAP" my thoughts are carried back to days when I enjoyed riding a motorcycle. John Alfred Prestwich made these motorcycles. They were popular among hill climb competitors. Although it's been decades since I've seen one, whenever I encounter "JAP" in print, I experience nostalgia for long gone carefree Summer days. (And I recall the unique smell of burning castor oil!) Cheers, PW. P.S. And I cannot forget the sound of these beasts. The absence of a muffler coupled with aggressive valve timing gave them an unforgettable bark at full throttle.
