As we continue to deplete geologies here in the U.S. it just costs more and more per bbl to get what's left out of the ground.

Actually production costs are falling in the US.

It sure looks like the U.S. can't compete with the lowest cost producers on the world stage anymore.

Actually it looking like we can. The ME has low cost production BUT that production supports their corrupt and primitive welfare state. Their costs not just the cost of getting it out of the ground, but keeping the royal family and their hangerson rolling in dough.
