Good article. I'll have to keep those points he makes in the back of my mind. It will reduce editing time if I do because when I am writing a paper, I edit like crazy, maybe too much. That "use active voice" is always with me, but, I do find I end up reverting some sentences back to passive to get rid of the awkwardness I created with the active.
