Kansas, economically is far better off than southern states like AR, AL, MS, LA, OK. WI is right in the middle of the pack. But other states like NM and NV have significant issues. WV and KY are Obama disasters.

The point is that the federal government has so involved itself in the affairs of states they have little control over their own economic health. Other than massive borrowing which gives the illusion of a better economy than truly exists.

Everything is really simple to a person who lacks any understanding of the basics.
