It's as simple as they wanted to keep O'Reilly and they wanted to get rid of Ailes.
Maybe so, but he built that network almost by himself.

What's interesting is how many of the "talent" group, who had a rider in their contract saying they could break the contract if Ailes left, chose not to. Matter of fact, not one person embraced that rider because of Ailes' dismissal. Not one protest. Not one show of support.
