John, I wish I had only one in the crapper going with me into 98. I bought a cpl. too late meaning too high. Actually I didn't when you get right down to it. Got in ok, rode them up and down again. Had bought more CPQ, HWP and my Intel warrants I bought mid year are down also. But APM was definitely my golden trophy. I sold with a good profit in the mid 30s and then bought again in the low 30s and rode it down to oblivion. Hm, at least I ended up selling it 1/16 higher than it ended up. There had to be more investors in the same boat than me though since it came off its high again.

8000 was starting to look good at one point. But then they kept quoting our good man Soros. He sees deflation big time but gives no specific reason for his outlook. Only Asia was named and the fact that he is going for bonds.

And after the market closed - at least CNBC waited until after the market this time around - they had Mr. shortseller Fleckenstein on and a newly crowned Mutual fund manager. He got the go ahead for some new Mutual funds, can't remember which ones. Anyhow, he used to be hip on Intel but opened his new funds without Intel in it. Thinks it't blah for a while and the shortseller - looks better again after the last cpl. of months, must have been able to put food on his table again - of course, is down on everything. Oil is going to go down, airlines are going down (talked himself out of why when Oil is supposed to get cheaper) banks are going down and of course Intel is going to 50 because their earnings are going down.
I also heard that Intel will suffer because of the low end PCs, cutting prices and the hope for the new product coming up, I think they meant Merced, will be no good since nobody will need those products because you can do everything you ever wanted to do and could not, with those brand new cheap PCs. gg.

I just read your e-mail. Not bad. If it were not New Years Eve I might be jealous. gg.

Ok, if you can think of something more cheerier, post me back promptly. Only market news will apply. gg.

Sonny
