And if a very large percent of Scotland's or the UK's electricity needs are provided from wind you also have the problem on relying on an unreliable source. Massive storage could take care of that but it would be very expensive, take up a lot of space, and isn't in place now. Peaking power can also cover for it, but then wind isn't really as cheap as claimed because to use it you need to also install the peaking power.
