I just don't agree there is much to be done about it, in any responsible sense. But I also don't agree that it would be desirable if you could do something about it.

Certainly little would change overnight...it's taken 40 years to get to where we are now...but the notion that educating and retraining people pays no long term dividends is silly...rebuilding crumbling infrastructure isn't just near term stimulative...it is strategically beneficial to the conduct of commerce...regions of the country that have enacted minimum wage increases have not seen the nefarious effects that you guys have warned about...hostility towards unions is not conducive to wealth fairness...and so on. And frankly being more aggressive to labor practice imbalances relative to our trade agreements is another issue that needs attention....it seems to me that lobbying by industry relative to this subject has led to political concessions on the part of democrats and republicans that one might reconsider...and finally it should be abundantly clear that supply side is a failure...let's get off this notion of cutting taxes to the detriment of fiscal health of the nation....oh, and last but not least, let's take care of health policy once and for all...this patchwork mess we have in the US is crap...the rest of the industrialized world ain't crazy...we are.

It's going to take time...there is no silver bullet for something like this...but we can get the ball rolling with common sense policy.
