I've also long thought that electric cars should be sold with their own solar charging system as an accessory. It just makes so much sense. See, I don't get this at all. If the car is off commuting to work when is it charged? Most work days, and the car is off to work then.
I get selling solar to the grid at peak sunshine and usage, and getting the benefit buying it back cheaper off peak. And for off the grid storing in a battery. But the off grid is very small.
I don't get get storing it in another battery, then putting that in a car when it gets home. The solar system required just to recharge a Tesla fully in a day would be pretty big too.
I get how these things work separately on the grid, but not how they go together as one product at a home.
As for other green tech, I currently own First Solar and am buying more at these levels and lower. They are very profitable, and are making pretty good efficiency gains, and are building their own Yieldco that takes advantage of those efficiencies at scale.
A while back, I thought Solar City would benefit from the falling price of solar panels, but the more I dug into it, the more it looked like they were basing their long term profitability on 30 year usage. I just don't think anyone will use their panels for 30 years.
