I figured that would get a reaction. Do you know that Jimmy Carter wanted to get ONE fighter jet for ALL the services? He wanted to get the BEST fighter possible and then configure it for the different services according to their needs. He didn't think it was a good idea to just THROW money at all the plane builders and then pay them more and more along the way. He thought the U.S. should handle things the way a Business would. Tell them what you want and see if they can come up with it. The U.S. would finance part of it, but each company would have to COMPETE. Carter was actually IN the military, unlike Reagan who only played a guy in the military, in films. Carter wanted to make the military EFFICIENT. Get the biggest bang for the American Taxpayer's Buck. Reagan just opened up the Cash Spigots. Just POUR money in. Reagan never SERVED and it SHOWED.... What's wrong with this country when a man like Carter who actually SERVED his country in War is considered Less of a man than a guy that Never left Hollywood in WWII?????
