i meant the pole vault :) that was a great moment.
it seems like every olympics inspires a home field
athlete to overachieve in this way.

but you know, when you think about all of the world
championship events for each sport discipline that
are held annually without the cost and hooprah
that the olympic games generate, why would we
continue to hold them. the host countries go into
massive debt. i doubt if montreal is out of it yet.

i've noticed that nearly all of the venues were empty.
what an enormous waste of money and at such a
social cost.

soon we'll be holding the hunger games :(

canada plays germany again in women's soccer
tomorrow. i wonder, can we beat them twice??
pretty tall order.
