I now am of the opinion that this is probably a good idea.

John, how do you feel about it now that the dust is settling a little, and you have had a chance to look at the emerging shape of the combined companies?

To me, VSGN's overriding strength was that they had made Visibroker the "ORB of choice" in the OEM market. Now they are gone, who will take this title? Probably nobody. Which means that an entire market segment has disappeared overnight. And with the dynamics of the market the way they are, it is unlikely ever to reappear - those companies who previously were happy to OEM to an independent company will choose to build their own ORB or acquire the necessary IP from a cash-starved start-up.

If the Borland deal should fall through, would this niche still be an available and profitable one for VSGN, or is all the money to be made from the IDE that it makes possible? I'd welcome your opinion and thoughts.
