What a lousy year for DEC stock 12/31/96 $36.25 and today
12/31/97 it closed at $37.13. So much for buy and hold!!!

Last year we also saw DEC hit a low of $25 and high of $53. As is the case with many stocks nowadays, it is important to time your investment. Here are a few lessons I learned trading this stock:

1. Many of us saw $25 as a good low. Fortunately I and some others bought some LEAP's when they were cheap. Made some money selling.
Mistake was not to sell when it hit $50. Reason: greed - pure & simple. I finally got out in the low 40's.

2. Where do we go from here? All indications from what have read so far is that DEC and other Tech. stocks will have a tough year ahead.
As one analyst would say "Korea is sick and will be "hospitalized" for a long time". This whole thing with SEA will have an impact on all multinationals - My guess is more in the June - August time frame.
Let's hope I am wrong.

3. My resolution for the New Year is that If I buy any stock, DEC included, I will sell when I am up or down 20%. Now this is a New Year resolution!! We shall see.

4. I **might** buy DEC if holds the $36 support which seems to have held so far. Then we have resitance at 40, 42.50, 46.50, 50, and so
on.

Happy New Year to all and may 1998 be a better year for all of you,

Good Luck,

Hossein
