Reagan was a smooth talker and could read a teleprompter like a movie star.

He was elected at a PERFECT time.

The U.S. had crushing inflation caused by OPEC and the USSR was crumbling from the inside.

I don't doubt that Reagan had good intentions, but I don't think he was as smart or as courageous as Carter.
