The R Congress made the disaster a bit smaller.

The R Congress got the sequester, then Ryan got Obama out of his straightjacket with his first budget as Speaker.

The Republican leadership doesn't really want a balanced budget any more than the Democrats. Look at what a bungle they made of it when they controlled Congress when Dubya was President. Spent like drunken sailors with an armful of whores.
