8/19/16 Contest update
Another blah week for biotechs, so here’s a video to cheer you all up. Make sure to watch all the way through with sound.
youtube.com
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -23.15% YTD (vs. down -22.86% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -14.25% YTD (vs. down -13.55% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -12.08% YTD (vs. down -11.01% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 4.61% YTD (vs. up 4.50 % YTD a week ago).
We have a new leader as AUPH became acidic to DNAJOE’s portfolio. Taking over first place is MASTER’s portfolio, up 10.37% YTD, with JBOG’s portfolio, up 9.41% YTD, now in second place and DNAJOE’s portfolio, up 8.56% YTD falling to third place.
At Friday’s close, a mere 3 of the 58 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 14 beating the NBI and 13 beating the SPSIBI. The 223 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -16.95% and a median YTD loss of -23.22%, with 56 of the 223 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week, ranked by % Gained and % Lost. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments:
1) I’ll be tracking BIND as BINDQ until the Pfizer buyout share price is set. BIND was held in two portfolios, DLU & PGO.
2) MBVX did a 1-7.4 reverse split.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a late summer weekend biotechies.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
