I wrote some software that scans for interesting option volume. I have found the following interesting.

Alibaba shows an very large open interest at strikes 95, 100 and 105 expiring at 16th of September. Without time value. In case it hits 105 each call @100 yield 5 dollars for each dollar invested. The chain of October also shows a large amount of open interested for the call options.

The amount of options is to me very speculative. I think that the options are primarily bought by a few large parties whom are interested of pushing the stock to that level. To me, it look strange to purchase such an amount of options for no reason other than is done with other stocks in general.

Any thoughts?
