Toilet paper is notorious for being one of the first things to become scarce when someone's economy is in trouble.....it was here during the depression and the war years........I remember the Sears catalog and newspapers being used instead..... Until a few decades ago, toilet paper in Europe was almost like waxed paper......you could write on it as Albert Speer did when he wrote his memoir while serving his life sentence after the war...we had a Polish immigrant move in down the street from us, she told us she loaded up on toilet paper whenever she sensed a problem with the economy..
