I believe that the Quartz shortage is more in the imagination of some of the gurus than in fact. Making optical systems of acceptable quality is still pushing the limits of today's technology. A partial discussion is in SVGI's 10K filed yesterday (available on Edgar).

To my knowledge, the MicraScan III uses a combination of mirrors and lenses.
