Happy New Year, Archie---everybody. I just brought the new year in with a kiss from the wife, a call from the kids, a glass of champagne, and Jay Leno. Now I'm sitting around pounding on the keyboard sipping a glass of Napoleon brandy. Screw UMSI-----Life is good.

Back when I was a kid, I used to go to Franklin, N.C. with my parents and my brother and pay a buck a person to dig around in the ruby/sapphire mines in Cowee Valley. We'd get knee deep in mud and rub our fingers raw cleaning the mud off the gravel that we dug up just in the quest that we would find that one gem that was a keeper. No one got rich off those trips, but we looked forward to them with a great deal of excitement, plus to this day I still have quite a collection of small rubys and sapphires that I found 40+ years ago that I pull out and admire every once in a while. What's my point? The point is that whether UMSI is a rock or a gem we probably are going to keep on digging. Let's face it, the hunt is the name of the game. One day we are going to find that ruby-----maybe in 1998.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, GUYS
