The price of EpiPens is an absolute scandal. It's criminal. I have no idea what they're charging for. 30+ years ago a good size bottle of Epinephrine, like 30 ml, was a couple of bucks.
My GF is a pharmacist, and I asked her about this. From what I gather, it's the patented EpiPen delivery system that is the issue. Others can't enter the market and use that delivery system.

Sanofi had a pen that competed with Mylan's EpiPen but there has been a recall of teh Sanofi Auvi-Q pen, leaving the EpiPen the only auto-injector on the market.

As you sid, it's criminal what they've done, jacking up the price so much.
