I asked my WinStar reps about two specifics, the commission distributions and the installation problems. Unless they were out-and-out lying to my face, and this would run directly against my experience to date - I've found WinStar folks to be quite upfront, they are not aware of significant problems in either area. There was an indication that while they did experience installation delays while they were getting their operations going, that this did not result in cancelled line orders. It's my recollection that they were very open about the difficulty they encountered getting RBOC's to process line orders (for resold service). I also believe that other CLEC's have encountered similar problems, and is one reason why AT&T is backing away from reselling as a model for getting into the CLEC business. Clearly this company understands the importance of customer service. I witnessed Bill Rouhana giving out his direct phone number to a roomfull of 200-300 prospects/clients asking people to call if they had customer service issues. I have a voicemail from Bill that I saved (for posterity) as proof that he walks the talk. How many other telcom CEO's would go that far? I'd LOVE to have the phone numbers of the CEO's for any of the other telcom's I've had to deal with so I could shred their ears. On that note...Happy New Year to all!!!
