Steve--- INTC will always be a good core and no bank will give you 7%. INTC being a little volatile indicates a percentage of holdings should be traded by buying on dips and selling at a profit. A little practice will see your INTC bring in a much higher percentage of gain. INTC,CPQ, and others have been very profitable in this manner over the past few years and you always have your core incase they give a stellar return. The key is to remove some of the profit at times. They are not "DAY"trade issues but issues to trade over the course of day, week, or months. I do not dispute the long term philosophy--- just expand on it for expanded profits,,,, almost like taking advantage of both worlds. I do not suggest running after the IBMs and MSFTs you mentioned, but had you bought MSFT on the rise after the last dip you could be up 6+ and ready to bail at the 1st sighn of a price drop. The practice adds a little adventure if your stomach can take it :-}
