You know, when I look back at the past as to what has happened on this African continent, where there are REAL black individuals, not the general mixed race that one finds in the USA, as a result of the initial mixing, generations ago, between Caucasians and African blacks, I recall all that clamouring by indigenous blacks about gaining independence from "white oppression" and their contention that all are equal in each and every respect. Needless to say, that clamouring was supported by those generally Left of the political spectrum.
Now, I, personally, don't have a problem with this equality thing. Let each rise up according to his talents, ability, efforts, etc, etc.
All that any country's government and administration needs to do is to ensure that there are no barriers put in place for any of its citizens to gain access to education, residential areas, medical facilities, public transport, etc, etc, etc. There should be no discrimination on the basis of race.
So, .... now, once that playing field is LEVEL FOR EVERYBODY then No ONE should have any reason or cause to COMPLAIN or BLAME any other racial group for what their own racial group can or cannot achieve within that playing field. You rise or fall according to your own input, effort, talent, ability, ... ad nauseam.
Much the same thing has happened in my country where ALL its citizens got to be part of the overall populace in 1994 and were free to vote, to attend any school, technical college, university of their choice. They could work where they wanted to, live where they wanted to, go where they wanted to, be it in a restaurant or hotel, or wherever So if there has not been comparative progress within the 11 tribes in this country since 1994, i.e. 22 years !!!! since that election, then whose problem should that be ????
And much the same has happened throughout this truly African continent in those countries where the "dreadful(?)" colonialist flags were hauled down, ASAP, and the country's administration handed over to the indigenous black populations.
One of the first things that happened was for multinational corporations to climb in and go hell for leather to obtain what they wanted from both above and below ground, with often very little regard for the welfare of the black work force. And when they took their billions, after transferring relatively large amounts to offshore bank accounts for the "Presidents(?)" and "Prime Ministers(?)", the local population saw little, if any, benefit in the improvement of their life styles. Look only at Angola, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, The DRC, Zambia, Malawi, etc, etc.
In fact their life styles were a lot better under those "dreadful(?)" colonialists than it has been under the rule of their own racial group .... |
