I can very well understand the reluctance of an appointed official - like John Roberts or James Comey - to play kingmaker and change history. I would feel the same way. In the end, the public gets - and should get - what they vote for. But, that said, those individuals are appointed - and get paid - to do their job. Even if it's hard. It appears that failing to ask a government official under investigation a simple question - WHY they took actions that led to that investigation - crosses the line.
