Looks like CPQ is coming out with an entire new line of computers. Noticed clearence sales today featurint "limited quatities" and "first come" also selling of "open box" systems (even the floor demos are on clearence sale). CPQ is going to keep uping the ante - a moving target - and will make life very hard for all other makers.

Micron appears to be getting out of the computer making business - just cancled their contract with their mother board maker CMC who reported that Micron was 42%+ of their business.

Deeply doubt that Packard Bell can recover.

Advantage is now showing of CPQ's new BTO system and its efficiency. Appears to have made just enough machines for Christmas sales and is now bringing out an entire new line up. The $699 computer is the first shot out (posted a few days ago).

I think Dell and all others are in hot water. They can not manufacture as efficiently as CPQ, CPQ has lowest cost distribution, CPQ will rapid fire a series of new machines and force the competition into costly upgrades and out of business. CPQ has the edge and intends to take full advantage by use of strategy to keep others off balance.

I'm looking for business to do a masive upgrade. Cost of computer desktop upgrade now equal to purchase of typewriter. Cost of each machine is trivial - the nervana that business has dreamed of for years. Looking for increase in average sales volume due to frequent and relatively cheap business upgrades.
