The black African state of Kenya... When people read that phrase from the article, black African state, no one bats an eye. It seems as natural as the day is long. Yet, if an author were to write about a white American town, he would be castigated as a racist. Moreover, magnified attention would be focused on the racist town and its racist people, and civil rights "leaders" would roll into the community to begin a process of meeting with officials and organizing civil rights demonstrations.
