Looks like I picked a good time to begin my transition to full retirement... one of my top 3 clients had reached a point back in 2009 where PetroBras represented over half of their new contracts... of course, what followed was a disaster for PetroBras and hence for my client as well... they are feeling a bit snake bit -- prior to their reliance on PetroBras (which btw was as much about the GoM operations as offshore Brazil), BP was one of their largest clients -- and notoriously slow to pay... then Deepwater Horizon (on which I spent time on a couple of occasions for my client) on which my client had safety/monitoring equipment and software/data analysis installed, but was observed to have been shut down from time to time and which if it were active when the accident occurred (still not clear if it was or wasn't active), should have given the rig crew plenty of time to correct the situation or at least get more people off of it safely and sooner.

I have done very little offshore work the last 2 years...
