I'm saying $8 based only on the momentum in the last two days.

There is talk about Opti getting out of the Chip set market, if it does this and liquidates its assets than it is worth at least $10, so maybe someone knows something.

As for Opti re-inventing itself, Opti management has a unique ability to jump onto last years hot product, just before it chrashes and burns. Lets face it the only business that they know is PC's and this is a very competitive market. On the one side you have Intel that wants to sell more and more silicon into the PC and makes it very difficult for players like Opti to compete. They don't release details of new high profit system specs early enought for companies like Opti to get to market so Intel reeps the benefit. (This was the whole issue with the DEC law suits but Intel took care of that by buying DEC). All that Opti can do is to pick up the scraps and 2nd tier chip sets (thats not a very profitable business plan)

Frankly the Idea of Opti getting into HDTV worries me. This is a market that has been tipped take-off for over 10 years and every year it gets delayed another year. Bottom line for me is : I ask Cable companies what they would do with compression technology and the answere is always the same (provide more channels or other services) I've never heard anyone say provide better quality Video. In my opinion HDTV is only the wet dream of technocrats. If it exists it will be through DVD.
