>Perhaps a better way to put it is to say that religion has been the perfect excuse for some people through the ages to do horrible things to other people with whom they disagreed. When I think of Christianity I cannot help but think of those things too.<

Do you remember quoting this from one of my later posts? I am not such an idiot that I couldn't see that the word "cause" was imperfect. Although, if you look at life in terms of things needing a prime mover, zealous belief (in anything) can frequently be that impetus. But of course it is the belief lodged in the human brain, not the idea in the abstract, that "causes" people to act in a certain way, at a certain time. And I would hardly say I have animus towards Christianity. Remembering history, the good and the bad, is called being evenhanded. It is you who seem to have an animus, toward my rather tolerant beliefs. I don't want to disabuse you of whatever system of belief you have. Of course I have no idea what you actually believe because you usually post quotes, frequently from encyclopedic texts. A factoid is not an idea.

And trying to argue with someone who already conceded the validity of your point is just silly on your part.
