That's why they put the dates of the storms in those articles. You can see for yourself how recently they showed up. For instance, when an article says, "Hurricane Patricia: The strongest hurricane ever recorded is headed for Mexico...
Oct 23, 2015 ", it means she showed up as recently as 10 and a half months ago.
