All - Some general 'catching-up-on-the-thread' comments:

The Wired article contains at least one factual error. It states that n-hand was introduced at Comdex in 1996, and then failed to meet the summer '96 ship date that was announced at Comdex. Since Comdex is in the fall, I don't see how this could have happened. There's no question that the article is extremely negative in tone, but I suppose the writers are entitled to their opinions. I just can't figure out what is motivating them in this case. It doesn't seem like Clik! should be a problem for them whether it ever ships or not.

Despite some people's beliefs to the contrary, there is no flash memory "standard." There are competing types of flash memory devices from Toshiba, Sandisk, Intel and possibly others. These different "standards" are not compatible with one another. In my opinion, this leaves the market ripe for incursion by a technology which is significantly less expensive, such as Clik!.

I do believe that if Iomega cannot get some firm OEM agreements for Clik! by April or May at the latest, this article will only be the beginning of the negative press. The company certainly will not stop growing, but people love to bash the market leader.

But I am going to wait a few months before I decide that Clik! is stillborn. There was no chance that companies were going to announce products with Clik! built in before Christmas, because it would have cut into the sales of their current products. Thus, I believe the fact that no announcements have been made yet doesn't tell us anything either way.
