| I don't think I made it. After I wrote that I was going to give Deadwood another try, I watched four episodes in two days last week. I thought the writing was pretty good, they built up situations well, and the dialogue was sharp, and i was thinking, okay, I can see getting into this, but then, somehow, three days went by without my watching anymore. Yesterday, Labor Day, I put on episode 5, and I dozed off about half through. Thursday morning I'm leaving for a road trip to Austin, and I'm not going to have time to watch any more before then. It's hard to imagine that when I return in a week or ten days, I'm going to get back to episode 5 1/2. I like that Timothy Oliphant (aka Rayand Givens) has a leading role, and it's interesting to see the actor who played the record producer on that series with the name I've already forgotten--the record producer whose eyes bugged out every time he snorted a line of coke--has the lead in this as the saloon/brothel/casino keeper, and you're right Caly, he's pretty unpalatable You really want someone to shoot him. I would if I could. In any case, I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to get back in it. Maybe third time will be a charm. |
