Jeremy Lin Prays His Newborn Nephew Will Learn to 'Trust in Jesus' as He Grows

Jeremy Lin is already thinking about his newborn nephew developing a relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Brooklyn Nets point guard took to Instagram on Saturday to debut a new haircut in honor of his nephew. While many details have yet to emerge about the bundle of joy, Lin did reveal his name and hope for his nephew's connection to Christ.
"Jaden (God has heard) Peter (the rock of the Church) Lin (straight swaggiest last name) ... this haircut goes out to my newborn nephew," Lin wrote. "May you trust Jesus and walk on water as your middle name and my head displays lol #prouduncle #hairgames."
Lin's own faith has been at the center of his basketball career. Last year, he revealed that his game improved when he surrendered it to God.
"When I was a rookie, I put myself through mental torment. I can't do that anymore," Lin said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. "So now I'm just growing more as a person spiritually and just learning to surrender it all. It gives me a lot of peace, man."
Win or lose, the basketball star makes sure to keep his focus on God while playing.
"It's like while I'm playing, I'm reminding myself that regardless of the results, just play, play for God," Lin said. "It seems like very basic, but when you care a lot about the game, you really care about the results, obviously."
Before landing with the Nets, Lin bounced around from the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets. Instead of worrying about his next move, Lin has learned to trust God with his future.
"I never expected to have what I have today, so a lot of it is just trusting," he said. "God has always taken care of me. I don't need to stress about it. I really am not worried about it."
In a previous blog, Lin spoke about the importance of finding joy in God amidst his trials on the basketball court.
"There have been many times this past season where I was filled with frustration, many situations where I felt overwhelmed and many nights where I couldn't sleep much because I was thinking about the game," Lin wrote. "But through it all, I've been learning how to surrender the results to God, how to walk by faith and not by sight, how to be renewed through times of prayer/Scripture and how to fight for a life of joy in the midst of trials."
