In rereading Dale's comments, it's obvious that he left out the key propellent to HDTV- Sports. With 1080i, wide-view, you're on the 50-yard line with a full-field view and can even zoom in to the area of choice. It's like being AT THE GAME. The PC alternative, 480 lines of progressive scan, is just pictures in boxes with no game flow and on smaller screens.

Imagine watching the Winter and Summer Olympics on your HDTV set. TBS and TNT will feature the NBA in HDTV, CBS-The Masters, HBO-Wimbledon, etc., etc.. DSS, Echostar and Primestar are getting ready to provide the rest in full HDTV quality.

RCA and Compaq found that consumers weren't willing to pay big bucks for TV/Internet convergence. WebTV is still a bust. About the only sure winners to TV/PC convergence will be the porn channels delivered directly to your living room. For only $4.95 per minute, Junior, sitting in front of the living room TV, will be able to view a Seattle, warehouse-based model disrobe and respond to Junior's 900 number personal requests. That's progress?
