NLWest its too bad you do not engage brain first then pen.
US is going its own way because it intends the design for its military so there delay is not due to testing or being behind the Chinese, its due to scalability. The US has a working Pebble Bed in Idaho Labs in Atomic City Idaho. They are now working on scalability.

Let me give you an example you can relate too

The DOE does not want to be another ZEN Where every 50 feet they need a new flow sheet. They want one flow sheet does all.
So they are spending more time on scalability then the Chinese thats why they are behind.
So if they want Xmegawatt, they pull it off the shelf. If they want 2X megawatts they pull two off the shelf.
