Re -- Compaq may buy AMD.

I am surprised these guys didn't think of Lucent buying AMD. Some people come up with such schemes. Compaq just bought tandem, they are not about to go and aquire another company. Furthermore, should they become a competitor to Intel, Intel would have no obligation to supply them with pentiums, which could cause compaq to go bankrupt in a few weeks.
