* NOVELL said it is returning to its basic strength with an aggressive
focus on the Intranet and Internet, a top official said. "The
market's changed and it's growing such that everyone is talking
about Intranets. That's where the growth is. So we're now focused in
providing solutions for the Intranet," Vic Langford, senior VP and
general manager of Novell's Internet/Intranet services business
unit, said. Langford said Novell was moving to open systems and was
now supporting Web server standards and Internet browsers and
investing in Intranets and the Internet. (Reuters 01:58 AM ET

Great volume today, stock should continue to move higher. Joe, maybe this is the move we have been waiting for. Why not this move AFTER release of GreenRiver....well it looks like investor's may all think a like and have anticipated this and are buying now rather than in October. Long term value investors (and value mutual funds) generally buy too early and end up waiting.

On CNBC Novell was rated a hold UNLESS it broke $13. Watch for accelerated buying if we break through $13 on growing volume. It appears Novell will need to consolidate a few days in the $11 5/8 - $12 5/8 range before any attempt on the $13 level. Finally, from a technical view point, it usually takes three attempts to break a major resistance level. We should knock on the $13.00 door atleast three times before we close higher. Therefore do not get too excited if we quickly touch $13 then retrace 1/3 of the previous gain (ie. 10-13 3pts) back to $12 several times before we close above the $13 level. Look for this to occur before October (third Friday) option expiration.
