For Jews, it's a covenant with God.

It's one of those things that make them the "chosen people".

For those who are envious (or hateful) of the designation "chosen", remember that chosen could mean something like

"chosen to get ice cream"!

or

"chosen to be the first on the front lines"!

Decide which is which for the Jews - take into consideration that little foreskin thing.
