My school teacher daughter recently received a large check from her ex to make a payment. Right after she deposited it, she got a fake email from the IRS telling her she owned taxes and MUST send a check immediately or all kinds of bad crap would start happening. Since it was coincidental with her recent deposit, it alarmed her. Fortunately she mentioned it to a teacher friend the next morning. The friend wasn't fooled by the scam and set my daughter straight. It just shows how one of those things can happen at just the right time when the recipient might be vulnerable. I still get the guy from India warning me of the big trouble my computer is about to have. I guess they must score often enough that it's worth continuing.
