9/16/16 Contest update
It was week when pneumonia stricken Hillary and ailing biotech stocks both recovered nicely. Coincidence?
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -19.79% YTD (vs. down -24.53% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -13.81% YTD (vs. down -17.62% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -7.91% YTD (vs. down -12.90% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) was up 4.74% YTD (vs. up 2.37% YTD a week ago).
JBOG’s portfolio, up 22.45% YTD, had a fine week, widening its Contest lead. DNAJOE’s portfolio, up 13.16% YTD, moved back to second place and MASTER’s portfolio, up 10.74% YTD, slipped to third place.
At Friday’s close, 7 of the 58 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 17 portfolios beating the NBI and 12 beating the SPSIBI. The 223 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -13.33% and a median YTD loss of -21.45%, with 60 of the 223 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year.
