Yes, you people. Jews. Shep said Christians circumcise baby boys for religious purposes but it's not us who do that, it's you guys he's really upset at - but he can't bash Jews like his ma and pa did, he can only bash Christians so he vents it on us. Displacement for PC purposes. I agree it's not torture when done on newborns. Ironically, it was a Jewish council (composed of James, Peter, and John) in the first church in Jerusalem who decided Gentiles who accepted Jesus didn't have to be circumcised. It wasn't an issue for decades because the first generation of Jesus people were all Jews. When Gentiles started to join too, they had to decide what to make them do or not do. You can read about it in the Book of Acts of the Apostles. They forbade four things for Gentiles who followed Jesus - believe it or not, most of them were dietary restrictions. The fourth forbidden thing was porneia (very popular in the Greco-Roman culture). That's a Greek word but you can probably figure out what it means.
