Yesterday, following my discovery of this nuisance, I shut down, rebooted and immediately ran SpyBot and Malwarebytes. Not sure which order that was. SpyBot found the usual stuff it always turns up and I got rid of all of it. I got a clean report from both of these. I don't think I'm infected right now.
Interestingly, however, my Windows Defender appears to be no longer running. I get a notice to this effect, but can't find a way to turn it on. The notice suggests I may be running another protection instead of Defender. Not that I know of....

I'm not sure I'll do anything else at this point. Do you believe a virus is already on my machine and THAT is what is causing the popup alert from "my-CROW-soft" (a very robotic sounding voice)?

Has anyone else seen this one?
