A man who was trying to break into a home in Pleasant Grove was shot by the resident Saturday, police said.

James Nero, 30, broke into a house in the 1000 block of Burlywood Drive around 11:20 a.m., police said.

After hearing glass break, the resident found Nero standing inside, according to police. The man, whom police did not name, then shot at Nero.

Nero fled and was later arrested. He told police that he tried to burglarize the man’s home.

Nero was treated for a gunshot wound at a nearby hospital and booked into the Dallas County Jail on a charge of burglary of a habitation. He remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
