Robert Byrd joined the Klan at the ripe young age of 24 It's interesting that you bring up Robert Byrd. Wayners also mentioned Byrd during his brief visit to this board. I guess Byrd is floating around in the current political zeitgeist. The subjects of our exchange have gone from Trump's and the alt-Right's "America First," to Socialism and then to Robert Byrd. Sorry if I don't understand the point of your last post, so please correct me if I go off track. You didn't offer me much in the way of an introduction to the history lesson. Are you suggesting that because the Democrat Robert Byrd was a racist, people, and particularly Democrats, should not criticize Trump for being a racist? Robert Byrd was just one Senator from a state with less than 1% of the US population. Which is worse: a President of the most powerful country in the world who is a racist or a Senator from a very small state?
