Good article NC.

And that is just one of the methods in the works, like graphene by "chemical" precipitation and others.

Its interesting that carbon doesn't melt, but sublimes - at 3553 C. The reverse of that process is much easier.

In 1772 Chemists melted a diamond with a giant magnifying glass to produce CO2 and enabled them to determine that it was composed entirely of carbon. (Quite a feat in those days.)

NC - Keep up the good finds, it builds everyone's knowledge base for what the future holds

That one high temp sublimation characteristic is what enables advertising catch phrases such as this one:

IE: "testing results by Ballard that samples of Albany graphite demonstrated high thermal and corrosion resistance properties."

(As in, it does what all carbon does) - I laughed out loud when I first read that wording, which was world class coordinated advertising phrasing from both Zen and Ballard. It was wonderful....I loved it.
