I came to this board by invitation from MetaComet (Del Rickel) on another board before he passed away. We were not always on the same end of the political spectrum. But could amiably discuss the differences. I respected him.
You Jack think before you post. What a great asset. Thank you

"am somewhat puzzled about all the election fuss, for there appears to be no real choice."

This I agree with whole heartedly. The two running for the presidency are perhaps the lowest grade of any presidential election in US history. Neither fit what I or a majority of other people would brag they are proud to be represented by. So it becomes a choice for the American voter to pick the lesser of evils.

As a matter of note George W Bush in comparison studies, is ranked among the worst on overall performance. Which I would also agree on.

So does the US voter pick a terrible track record or an unknown ? Tough decision.

In Canada's last election they tossed out a Prime Minister who lowered taxes for all citizens every year he was in power while reducing the deficit at the same time. And replaced him with a socialist who is increasing taxes on the population and running up the debt by donating billions around the world. Awarding parliament members a 15% raise on salaries. While raising social security pensions to the aged by .59 cents a month. Claiming that should keep them abreast of inflation.

So perhaps one cannot rely on the intelligence of the common voter to make the right choice.

When it comes to the chances of war in the near term. I also am not to worried. The world powers are like school yard bullies. As long as they are uncertain as to would win or loose the fight. They prefer not to do battle. That is why military strength matters.
