NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 1996--On Tuesday, Oct. 8, NYNEX will conduct a live demonstration of high-speed ADSL technology for access to the Internet and World Wide Web.
The demonstration will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at NYNEX headquarters at 1095 Avenue of the Americas in New York City. The session will feature an overview of ADSL technology and a question and answer session with Jeff Waldhuter, executive director, Research & Development, NYNEX Science and Technology.
ADSL, short for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, is a rapidly developing technology that uses an existing copper telephone line to provide access to the Internet at speeds some 50 times faster than a dial-up modem. A side-by-side, visual comparison of ADSL vs. conventional dial up modems will be included.
Potential future applications for ADSL technology include high-speed Internet access, telecommuting, remote LAN access, and distance learning.
