TORY grandee Ken Clarke has lashed out at Theresa May, saying she has “no idea” how to pull Britain out of the EU.

The former chancellor rounded on the premier in the first vicious attack of her stint in Downing Street.

His rant comes ahead of the Tory conference this Sunday, where the party is expected to be split over a hard or soft Brexit.

The division centres on whether we will have to keep our borders open to access the EU’s single market.

Mr Clarke fumed: “Nobody in the Government has the first idea of what they’re going to do next on the Brexit front.

“Serious uncertainty in your trading and political relationships with the rest of the world is dangerous.”

Mrs May is in talks with Brussels to bag a deal before she invokes Article 50 to formally begin Britain’s exit from the EU as it was warned last week that a number of eastern European countries would threaten to "veto" the move.

But Mr Clarke added: “Whatever is negotiated will be denounced by the ultraEurosceptics as a betrayal.

“She faces an appalling problem of trying to get these ‘Three Brexiteers’ to agree.”

Earlier this week loudmouth Piers Morgan revealed his reasons for not supporting Europe following the Brexit result.
