Here is the response Trump should have given: "Those were not very nice names, and I apologize to Ms. Machado". The next best response is to ignore the entire issue. If you had asked the Clinton campaign, "what's the best response you might hope for?", they prolly would have said something like, "We'd like to see Trump show up on Faux and attack her for an entire week."
